LATEST NEWS
October 2019
My studio has been busy! Along with hand therapist Dr. Mark Bartholdi, I presented a discussion on how to build a pain-free virtuoso technique to the Charlotte Piano Teachers Forum (CPTF). In December 2018 I returned to Japan for master classes and private lessons with wonderfully dedicated students; since virtually all of them compete successfully in events or perform professionally, my job is pure joy. I was in Tokyo again in June (22nd year!) — in addition to lessons and master classes, I performed the Mozart Double Concerto with pianist Hiroko Sugiyama and a program of solos. In July I played the Raintree Sketch by Takemitsu at the MTAC annual state convention in Santa Clara.

Coming up: in January, a lecture-recital on Baroque performance practices and master class for CPTF, and a presentation on giving master classes in Japan and China; in February, a performance in LA to help raise money for school music programs, and in the Spring it’s back to Japan for more master classes, lessons and performing.

My students continue to prosper, with accolades in Festival and Solo Auditions, and one won Second Place in the NC “Royalty” state competition. So much good music!
